Why do I choose this trip ?
This stay allows you to savor the culinary specialties and varietals of Limouxin wines through several workshops led by professionals, and dive into the history of a mysterious and astonishing preserved heritage. Highlights: 2 gourmet meals / Fine accommodation, choice of 3 or 4 stars.

Half board week-end

DAY 1 

Take part in an oenological workshop from 2 pm to 5:30 pm discover the origin and the history of wines, winemaking techniques. Introduce yourself to basic wine tasting, blending and yeasting techniques. Visit the technical cellar “traditional method” followed by an appetizer “Mets & Vins” “Bubbles & Gourmandises”. 1 bottle “Ambassador / bubble workshop” offered! This workshop is run by professional producers, sommeliers or oenologists.   7:30 pm Aperitif and tasting of a gourmet meal served with local wines.

DAY 2 

Breakfast at your hotel.You can then stroll through the narrow streets of Limoux and its central square to discover the local shops such as Maison Vaquié where you will find delicious home-made charcuterie, not to mention the Bor house where Nougat is made in a traditional way. artisanal (23 Bis Avenue Fabre d’Eglantine).

Lunch in the restaurant of your choice

In the afternoon visit the Abbey of St Hilaire 20 minutes from Limoux, it is in this place that the history of the blanquette of Limoux began in the 16th century … Cradle of the Blanquette of Limoux, this former fortified Benedictine Abbey, dating from the eighth century, is composed of a Gothic cloister, serving the Romanesque church, an abbatial dwelling, refectories and cellars. At 4 pm tasting of 10 vintages of blanquette in a family estate, accompanied by small appetizers such as charcuterie and cheese. (7 km from Limoux) 7:30 pm Aperitif and tasting of a gourmet meal served with local wines.

DAY 3

In the morning, discover Rennes-le-Château, a small village perched on a hill. This village is known all over the world after the publication of books dealing with the mystery of Abbé Saunière, village priest in the 19th century, he suddenly became very rich … But what has he discovered? We invite you to conduct your investigation by visiting the Abbé Saunière museum. You will be seduced by the mysteries of the estate but soon you will be conquered by the rich history of Rennes le Château and the special atmosphere that emanates from it. 

Free lunch.

In the afternoon, stroll through the small medieval village of Alet-les Bains with half-timbered houses and remains of an old Benedictine monastery founded in the 9th century: the Notre-Dame d’Alet Abbey , in ocher sandstone, of which remain the romantic ruins of the Romanesque chevet, the unfinished Gothic choir, the chapter house and the northern entrance.

Around 4 pm, end this beautiful weekend with a last wine tasting in a vineyard.
